Echoes From The Building: a poem about silence

This poem is for the ones who savour silence, and protect it as the most treasurable moments in their days.
Echoes from the building
Outside the front door
Of my apartment,
A noisy reminder
Of humans’ existence,
‘I’m not alone’
Is the sentence
Smashed between
Feet descending stairs
And people chatting
On the threshold
